Terra Cotta Oblong Tile

R680.00

Per Square Meter. (VAT incl)

The Oblong Tile is our latest addition to the Shaw Tec tile range. We have been working behind the scenes to bring you our most popular Terra Cotta colour – inspired by the original ‘KLOMPIE’.

We have developed the OBLONG tile to be easily adapted for floor AND walls.

It is a handmade product, but the uniformity is pretty good, therefore laying our tiles is easier than a clay klompie.

You can get as creative as you like using the OBLONG, from a Herringbone, Mosaic, Stack Bond, Brick Bond pattern – the options are endless.

Laying our Oblong tiles:

Tiles can be layed directly onto a rough cast base, using a normal sand cement mix. It is not necessary to first screed your surface before laying your tiles. If the surface is already screeded use a cement base tile adhesive approximately 3mm thick to bed your tiles in. Space your tiles 5 – 10mm apart, depending on your personal preference. Ensure the base of the tile is completely supported when bedded in, i.e no hollow spots.

Sealing the tiles:

We recommend Conseal/Gripseal for this purpose. It is a non toxic, indoor and outdoor water based sealer. The sealer can be applied with a brush or large sponge. Give the tiles one coat of sealer before laying. This prevents any cement residue staining the tiles on the surface when doing the grouting. It is not necessary to pre-seal the complete batch of tiles prior to laying. Do 20 – 30 at a time while the job is in progress as the sealer absorbs within minutes. On completion of the area allow to dry and apply one more coat to the tiles and the grouting. The result is a beautiful rich, non maintenance floor.
